Discovery of the “El Raval” district

El Raval is the most colorful district of Barcelona, it is the one where you will find the most mix of culture and life.

Located in the south of the city, between El Montjuic to the east, El Eixample to the north and El Gotic to the east, this neighborhood is quite central in the city and that’s why it’s so lively.

You will find some of the best bars and restaurants in the city, but also many activities or places to visit. This area is often overlooked as being dangerous or less developed, but it is one of the oldest areas of the city and is a safe area to live, typical with its charm and its regulars.

1) Museo de Arte Contemporaneo de Barcelona :

This museum gathers in majority works realized during the second part of the XXth century, it is a museum very appreciated by the youth.

2) El Gran Teatre del Liceu :

It is the oldest theater in Barcelona, it was created in 1847.

Many plays and operas are regularly performed there, it is located directly on the Rambla, and was at the time a major place where the Catalan aristocracy met.

3) La Rambla del Raval :

La Rambla is one of the most frequented streets in Barcelona, with many stores, restaurants and bars and also street artists who animate the life of this street. It’s a must-see if you’re visiting Barcelona or if you just want to stroll around.

4) El Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria :

The market of Sant Joseph is a very old market which at the beginning was not official and did not have its own structure, there were only traders who came to install their tables and with the passing of time it became a true official market. We can find there meats, fruits and vegetables but also dairy products or spices.

 

It is open every day of the week except Sunday.
